Child Care Matters!

Idaho’s State Training and Registry System’s vision is to increase the quality of early care and education programs for all children in our state. IdahoSTARS’ mission is to assist parents by offering child care referrals and information about quality child care settings. Our mission also includes assistance to child care providers by offering a variety of professional development opportunities and resources through our approved trainers and mentor/coaches.

2010 IdahoSTARS Enhancement Grants

IdahoSTARS now has 3 Enhancement Grants to assist child care facilities to improve their services. These grants for 2010 will offer awards toward NAEYC or NAFCC program accreditation and in two areas of program practices: Feeding & Nutrition for Young Children, and Outdoor Learning Environments. Directors/owners must be enrolled in the PDS Registry before March 1, 2010. Applications will be accepted from February 1 through March 19, 2010 at 5:00 PM.

Quality Rating and Improvement System

The IdahoSTARS Quality Rating and Improvement System (QRIS) is available on a first come, voluntary basis as funding allows. Participation in the QRIS demonstrates that a facility cares about quality and it will help parents to recognize, choose and expect quality in an early care and education settings. Orientations will be offered in each regional Child Care Resource &Referral (CCR&R) office.
