Thank you for your interest in becoming an IdahoSTARS Trainer. The IdahoSTARS Trainer System is a wonderful opportunity to share your experience and knowledge in the Early Care and Education field with child care providers in Idaho.
To complete the Trainer Application Packet read and follow steps:
Step 1: Eligibility
To be eligible you must have:
- Associate Degree or higher in Early Childhood Education or Child/Family Development Studies. (Note: Specialty trainers require an AA Degree or higher in the content area of the proposed training topic.)
OR
Degree in non-related field and CDA credentials or 30 credits in Early Childhood Development
- 5 years professional experience providing direct services to children and/or families.
Note: Specialty Trainers must have 5 years professional experience in the content area of the proposed training topic.
- Experience training and/or presenting to adult learners within the last three years.
Step 2: Fill out and Attach
Fill out the Trainer Application Packet (located at the bottom of this page)
Attach the following documents:
- Current Resume or Vita
- Copies of transcripts from highest degree
- Copies of any relevant certifications (e.g. Red Cross Instruction Card or Train-the-Trainer cert.)
- Copies of any other certification showing education or experience in adult education (if applicable)
Important Note: Trainer application packets are always accepted, however they will be reviewed quarterly.

Step 4: Review Application Packet Process
Application packet is reviewed by IdahoSTARS
- Upon approval IdahoSTARS will contact trainer and a Training Approval Packet (with further instructions) will be sent to trainer.
- Applicants not approved will receive an explanation letter and may submit a letter for re-evaluation. The explanation letter will address the criteria not met and give information on the process of submitting a letter of re-evaluation.
