Emergency Preparedness

Emergency Preparedness

It is critical that child care providers be able to react appropriately to disaster. Child care providers, parents, and emergency planners can work together to ensure that child care settings are prepared in the event of an emergency. IdahoSTARS and other resources are available to help providers learn about emergency preparedness and disaster recovery.

IdahoSTARS Emergency Preparedness Training

IdahoSTARS offers training for child care providers, including such topics as emergency preparedness for child care facilities and involving parents in emergency preparedness.

Check out the IdahoSTARS Training Calendar for available training.

Online Resources about Emergency Preparedness

Resources are available online to help child care providers and parents prepare for and recover from emergencies.

Check out the Early Childhood Learning and Knowledge Center’s Emergency Preparedness Manual. The National Association of Child Care Resource & Referral Agencies (NACCRRA) also provides disaster policy recommendations and disaster planning materials.
