Quality Rating and Improvement System

QRIS is a means to help me set goals and provides funds and mentoring to meet those goals and then validates that my goals have been met. I have held a vision for improved quality in my in-home preschool that I didn't have the means to produce and QRIS is making that possible. I am hoping that QRIS will also educate the public on quality standards so that they will demand that quality when making their child care choices.

Quality Rating and Improvement System

The Quality Rating and Improvement System (QRIS) is a voluntary quality rating and improvement system for child care facilities in Idaho. The quality of the facility is rated through a system of five stars, similar to ratings for hotels, movies, and restaurants. The QRIS includes a built-in system for improvement in each of the eight Quality Standards. In this way, the QRIS credits facilities for the quality practices already in place while providing a roadmap to increased quality.
