This lesson is an introductory training on the basics of child growth and development based on The Developing Child Series. This series presents concepts from developmental theorists, vocabulary, insight from early childhood professionals, and practical strategies related to the milestones of physical, cognitive, and social emotional development in children from birth to 5 years. The materials covered are designed to meet the training needs of child care providers with diverse educational backgrounds by providing a foundational understanding of child growth and development, or a comprehensive review for the experienced provider.

Independent Study in Idaho offers an on-line course taught by Laurel J. Branen, PhD, RD, LD, and Janice Fletcher, EdD from the University of Idaho. This course is specifically for those who want to learn more about feeding young children in group settings. Content in the course applies to young children who are birth through age 5. Group settings include Head Start and Early Head Start programs, preschools, and child care programs. This is an appropriate course for those who work directly with young children and those who consult with early childhood programs. The course is not intended for parents. Child Care Lounge offers child care training when you need it, without leaving the comfort of your own home. Upon completion of Child Care Lounge trainings, the company will submit your proof of attendance and you will need to complete the Training Evaluation before you can receive training hours.

Building Blocks for Literacy

Lee Pesky Learning Center, in partnership with the Stern Center for Language and Learning, is pleased to announce the online version of Building Blocks for Literacy®. The content is available at no cost, however, to receive a certificate of completion will be issued through the Stern Center for $50.

Module 1: Children's Behaviors

 

 

Description:
Addressing Challenging Behaviors is a training series consisting of 4 separate training modules. Each training module may be taken separately for 2 training hours. Providers must complete each module in sequential order. Child care providers will watch the video vignettes and complete the quiz. Quizzes will be submitted to the IdahoSTARS Training Office for approval. Training hours will be posted after quiz is processed and training evaluation is complete.

To Start:

  • Download and follow the Instructions for module 1.
  • Download the Quiz for module 1.
  • Download the Inventory of Practices
  • Watch the module 1 videos, accessed through your provider account.
  • After watching the videos for the two lessons, complete and submit the quiz to the Training Office.
  • You must receive a score of at least 80% on the quiz.
  • After successful completion of the quiz you will recieve an email notifying you that you may complete the training evaluation at that time.

Number of training hours: 2 hours in Component 3.

Module 2: Promoting Positive Behavior

 

 

Description:
